build 6 - rev 563 & rev 579

Postby Spudsdude » Thu Jan 28, 2010 2:03 am

Hot off the presses is rev 563 (as well as the latest 579 build)

Key Changes/Difference between this build and the previous one
- mainly additional back end changes, some additional features have been added when in remote client mode
added more user feedback when things are running, and more options in the UI

NOTE: if the config editor won't allow you to browse to an external drive, just add it's path to the config file

Short Notes for testers that have been using other builds:
You MUST remove your old database's, the schema has been changed
You MUST remove your old config.xml files, the config has been changed

Requirements:
Windows .Net 2.0 with SP1 + System.Core.dll and System.Xml.Linq (from a .Net 3.5 machine) - OR - Mono 2.4.2.3
Linux Mono 2.4.2.3 - Mediainfo installed for your OS
OSX 10.5 Mono 2.4.2.3 - Mediainfo installed for your OS

Download and extract to c:\program files\umm (winders) -- or where ever you like
For OSX 10.5 and Linux /usr/bin/umm - or where ever you like

How to start umm under OSX / Linux
mono ummClient.exe
OR
use a bash script if you like, here's the example one that will be included later after it's cleaned up
http://www.teamumx.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=272

Here's what we are looking for in this very early build
- does the app startup under your os
-- try the server, client, remote client, tv show updater
- does the scraper (for movies) allow you to select and save an image
- does the scraper (for tvshows) allow you to select and update the show information
- is tv show information scraped correctly (do they work in xbmc)
- are tv shows episodes display correctly (do they work in xbmc)
- does the file level lock for movies work (this locks the field so it won't be overwritten, or locks only if empty (default), or unlocks meaning whatever is scraped will be written)
- does movie media information update correctly (try it wil .iso files as well as other file types), try it localy and using the remote server

- try everything you see in the user interface (on test media) and see what works and what does not work

Start the server (either on your machine or on another pc).. leave it running .. startup the client, enter ip and port, test out features.

A ton of questions are going to pop up, this is where you'll need to use the noggin :D and answer each others questions here
Run it on test media. If you don't, and stuff goes haywire, that's your fault.

The user interfaces are not the final user interfaces you'll be using, they are test forms we use to check core items. Some of the final ui's might be similar, like image selection and scraper selection, but that's up to the ui folks.

It's the error's we are concerned with, please be detailed in your bug reports.

By default it's going to generate a few extra files for your movies, these allow use with multiple media centers, like sagetv, windows media center (using media browser) and others.
Some config options are not displayed in the config editor, you can modify the settings in the config.xml and advanced.xml (for rss feed links)
Since this is the second rev spun off after changing how we talk to the database (now using mono's sqlite calls), i'm sure a few basic issues with pop up.
Good luck, and please post your feedback, good /bad /indifferent / bug reports.

install notes
You will need to remove your old database files
C:\Program Files\umm\db\mymovies.db
C:\Program Files\umm\db\mytvshows.db
c:\Program Files\umm\db\thetvdb.db (if you have one from an svn build)

You will need to remove the config.xml file, use the config editor to modify the settings
C:\Program Files\umm\config.xml

You can use the configuration editor to add sources and modify settings
- Note: some parts may be unfinished

Required Downloads you will need to use the app
Windows - .Net 2.0 with SP1 - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

Mono
For Linux and OSX - you'll need Mono 2.4.2.3 - http://www.go-mono.com/mono-downloads/download.html
the complete mono package is mono-complete
You'll prob want to install p7zip for easy 7z archive handling.

For specific details on installing mono under 8.04 as well as Ubuntu 9.04 - see this post
index.php?f=18&t=177&rb_v=viewtopic

You can also use mono under windows

sqlite - Linux and OSX
This should no longer be required, please let us know if it fails to work correctly.
//http://www.teamumx.com/forum/index.php?f=18&t=178&rb_v=viewtopic

Mediainfo.dll
Mediainfo.dll for Windows 32bit and 64bit is already included

OSX 10.5
https://sourceforge.net/projects/mediai ... 2/download

Linux - find your version based on OS
look under "MediaInfoLib - DLL" - make sure you get the 32/64bit depending on your os, you can also compile from source (good luck on compiling from source, if you get that to work, please do post a step by step how to)
Here's some common Linux links (you can update to newer versions)
Ubuntu 9.10 32bit - libmediainfo0_0.7.27-1_i386.Ubuntu_9.10.deb - http://sourceforge.net/projects/mediain ... b/download
Ubuntu 9.04 32bit - libmediainfo0_0.7.24-1_i386.Ubuntu_9.04.deb - https://sourceforge.net/projects/mediai ... b/download
Ubuntu 8.10 32bit - libmediainfo0_0.7.24-1_i386.Ubuntu_8.10.deb - https://sourceforge.net/projects/mediai ... b/download
Ubuntu 8.04 32bit - libmediainfo0_0.7.24-1_i386.Ubuntu_8.04.deb - https://sourceforge.net/projects/mediai ... b/download

Thanks!

Thanks for this report. This happens because of a bad implementation of string escaping when writing media to the database. I'm currently working on a completely new database access layer which won't have this problem.

can you list the full folder name as well as all files in that folder.. i'll do a quick fix to the string escape function that we are using until Montellese's new db in is place.

is that the char found by entering in alt 157 ? ... update sure is

Ok, i've modified svn build 579 to use a longer string of chars as the internal delimiter, this should fix the issue for now

Postby Dedi » Wed Feb 10, 2010 5:01 pm

its a Y combined with a - on my view :)
its not alt 157. The file was downloaded, so its not a char entered by myself. As fix i just renamed the file, so its already gone.

I copied back the char to test it. I had a crash once (after renaming the file to include the char) that occured after scanning (so scanning worked) at the moment i clicked at the checkbox in the movie list. after restarting everything worked. (but i saw the filename displayed by the client had the special char missing) http://pastebin.com/f10035def

buuut

i wiped database and settings, with a new scan this (or similar) error still occures (at the moment when i do the scan):
http://pastebin.com/f761a3d04

please note its not named the same way as before, so may the NEAR indicator can be diffrent

i dont need a quick fix for this problem, just wanted to report it :)

I found what the issue was :D bad coding on my part

please try with 585 as it turns out that char is in alot of scraper returned data, meaning it was breaking other areas as well

Re: build 6 - rev 563 & rev 579

Postby Bulkzooi » Fri Feb 12, 2010 1:16 pm

I extracted UMM rev 579 under Win7. I started UMMclient. The screen to fill in my HTTP connection to XBMC (remote client). I can fill in my IP and port but I cannot fill a user name and password.

Off course, my webserver is running on port 80 (on a XBOX).

I tried manually to change rc.conf with the correct login credentials but after pressing connecting to server nothing happens and the proces hangs. I have the dump file of this proces is included (hmm, it seems that uploading files isn´t functional yet while editting).

What am I missing here?

The umm client connects to the umm server, neither connect to xbmc's database. The xbmc database tie in's are not done yet.

startup the configuration editor and enter in the paths for your media (movies, and tv shows), save and close it, then startup the ummClient and load the movies and tvshows.

right now UMM is working with the local files (.nfo for metadata, and the images fanart.jpg, movie.tbn, etc.)

I am starting to think this project is dead... wish it wasn't because I really like the idea. I've been poking around looking for anything or anyone, but getting no response so far. These forums seem to be overrun with spam-bots.

It's still kicking, it's just slow at the moment.
I'll be putting the files on sourceforge, and have to find a way to deal with the damn spambots
