Cannot start ummClient.exe [Linux]

Postby JackieBrown » Sat Oct 31, 2009 1:35 am

I am using Debian Sid amd64.

Mono version installed is 2.4.2.3

I run mono ummClient and the splash screen displays and then it crashes.

http://umm.pastebin.com/d7d40df24

I do not think the base folder should be /usr/bin/umm but I do not know much about mono and I guess it could remap my system.

Version is 261

that's the current path for UMM, when it's done, you'll be able to choose the folder you want to run umm in

you'll need to make the dir if it does not exist, and set permissions so you have full permissions

sudo mkdir /usr/bin/umm
sudo chmod -R 777 /usr/bin/umm

That got it.

It load existing nfos, posters, and fanarts just fine.

The rescraper does not work and neither does trying to download posters / fanarts.

There are no error messages when I try (except for the gui stuff - No results found for....) but I believe I read on another thread that debugging messages were turned off for linux.

Just an FYI,
Code: Select all
<dllmap dll="sqlite3" target="./sqlite-3.6.17.so" os="linux"/>
does not work but
Code: Select all
<dllmap dll="sqlite3" target="./sqlite-3.6.17.so" os="!windows"/>
does. That fix is in another thread here.

Either way, it looks very promising and runs much faster than media info plus (my current favorite) in wine.

***edit - the downloads of posters worked after adding the scrapper per this thread

here's an updated rev with the changes for the external dll's
in addition, this build's no longer has the path hardcoded, just make sure you have full access (777) to whatever folder you are running the files from.

let me know how this works out and if there are any missing files (or changes requried)

note: you'll need to setup your sources again

I still can't change the paths - reload is is grayed out in the config editor. I tried saving it without reloading and it just defaults back to /usr/bin/.

On the plus side, rescraping is now working.

If the "Reload" button is grayed out this means that there is no file called "config.xml" in the folder defined in the textbox on the right side of the "Reload" button. I haven't tested the ummConfigEditor with the new release though (I'm gonna do that right now).

I did touch umm/config.xml and it worked well.

I am back at the squite errors, though.

I even tried pointing it right at the file (as you can see in the debug log) and it still fails.

http://umm.pastebin.com/m325cc83a

I tried the fixes here
http://www.teamumx.com/forum/index.php? ... =viewtopic
specifically
note: you will need to copy the sqlite3.dll from the
\\trunk\\umx\\UMX\\dal folder to your /bin/debug (or /bin/release) folders manually

when running under mono
change directory to the .exe folder
run mono from that folder so that it uses the sqlite3.dll and not mono's built

in .dll file (you'll get weird sqlite errors if you don't do this)

The only thing different between when I said it worked an now is that I deleted my /usr/bin/umm and the original extracted version of umm.

I did the sudo chmod -R 777 /usr/bin/umm on the off chance that the file I made would be lacking permissions but that had no effect.

****edit
Forgot to mention where I get the errors...
It is when I try to load or scan the movie database

It is when I try to load or scan the movie database

it'll need the sqlite in the folder it's running from
/home/david/umm_linux_1.0.0.287/sqlite-3.6.17.so

also, try this newer rev as it has a path override option
umm_linux_1.0.0.298.7z
(3.14 MiB) Downloaded 134 times

in these builds, it's looking in the current folder for the config.xml, if not it defaults to the older path.
so, to work around that, run mono ummClient.exe first, close it, then you can use the config editor

since it's using the local path, put the sqlite version into whatever folder you are running the .exe from
.. actually it's in the builds now so you shouldn't have to do anything (other then config)

same problem and sqlite-3.6.17.so is in the directory I am running the exe from.

I also added it to every directory I could think of.

Maybe it's compiled for 32 bit?

it should work for both, but i don't have a 64bit linux to test under

maybe try putting it in /usr/lib

if that don't work, try putting it into the same folder where mono is running from

or whatever this means (http://osdir.com/ml/sqlite-users/2009-09/msg00123.html)
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/some/path/to/where/sqlite3/lib/resides

another option would be to compile it and see if it is a 64bit issue (be interested if that fixes it)

also, give this build a try, maybe it's something with the treading issue of the splashscreen (doubtfull, but ya never know)

when starting the client, start it with mono --debug ummClient.exe
take note of the path it says is the base folder, and make sure the config is pointing to the same place

A few others items to gather
mono -V
which mono
which sqlite

proof it does really work under linux :D

Code: Select all
mono -V
Mono JIT compiler version 2.4.2.3 (Debian 2.4.2.3+dfsg-2)
Copyright (C) 2002-2008 Novell, Inc and Contributors. www.mono-project.com
        TLS:           __thread
GC:            Included Boehm (with typed GC)
        SIGSEGV:       altstack
        Notifications: epoll
        Architecture:  amd64
        Disabled:      none

Code: Select all
which mono
/usr/bin/mono

Code: Select all
which sqlite

sqlite returns nothing but I don't think it should. Doesn't which pull the executable?

I need to look up compiling a mono program.

I tried export as well

ok, now i think we are getting somewhere :D
mono is asking the os, where's sqlite, which sqlite returns nothing

try installing sqlite from the package manager or compile just sqlite from source
mono-dev isn't needed for that

I have /usr/bin/sqlite3

I'll try the sqlite package but that version is 2.8.17.

I'll try that and if that fails, I'll try a sym link for sqlite3 to point to sqlite.

No luck.

I also checked that libmono-sqlite2.0-cil was installed.

which sqlite
/usr/bin/sqlite

when your launching the app, are you doing so from the folder it's in? If not try that, change to umm directory where files are present.

i'm running out of ideas here, does the config editor work properly?

did you install mono-complete ?
